Michael is a Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer at Tiedemann Wealth Management, and oversees all facets of asset allocation, investment strategy, manager selection and portfolio construction at the Firm.
Michael began his career working for Tiedemann Investment Group as an emerging markets research analyst. In 1994, after two years with TIG, Michael joined the equity research group at Banco Garantia in Brazil and later ran their sales and trading operations out of New York. In August 1998, he moved to Credit Suisse First Boston when the two banks merged and remained there heading up their sales trading efforts for all of Latin America. Michael is a Founding Partner of Tiedemann Wealth Management and was appointed Chief Investment Officer in 2007.
Michael has been a selected speaker at a number of financial and regulatory associations around the country including: SEC Round Table “Discussion About the Future Regulation of the Hedge Fund Industry”, and “Global Financial Stability Report,” a government sponsored report highlighting his early concern about leverage and counterparty risk building in the financial system.
Michael serves as Chairman of the Board of The River Fund – New York, an organization whose mission is feeding and empowering those they serve to move beyond the lines of poverty. Michael also serves as Treasurer for Baby Buggy, a New York-based organization dedicated to supporting destitute families and the raising of their children. In addition, he is a Trustee of the 1 East 60th Street Foundation. In 2012, Michael was honored by Henry Street Settlement for his contribution to charitable causes.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Born in Manhattan, Michael currently resides there with his wife Ariel, daughter Emma and son Roman.
