
Paul is a Managing Director, the Chief Investment Strategist and a member of the Investment Management Team. He is responsible for establishing the firm’s economic and asset-class outlook. He is also involved in the manager due-diligence process and client-portfolio allocation decisions.
Paul initially joined the firm as a hedge fund manager for Tiedemann Investment Group. Before that, he worked for Trellus Management, LLC, a New York-based hedge fund, where he was a large-capitalization equity analyst. For five years starting in 1993, Paul was the senior oil and gas exploration analyst at two firms: Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, where he was also a Vice President, and S.G. Warburg. The five years before that, Paul served as a Corporate Banking/Finance Officer for Chemical Bank and Union Bank of Switzerland.
Paul earned first- and second-place honors from the Wall Street Journal in 1995 and 1996, respectively, for best E&P stock selection. In 1997, he earned fourth-place honors for most accurate earnings estimates.
Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from Southern Methodist University, where he graduated with departmental distinction honors.
